Nandrolone revisited

To most people in the game Deca is a household name. More often that not it is used in combination and with testosterone of some sorts for building muscle.

In getting back into gym after a lay-off I looked at option on what to use. Normally, my first choice would he Equipoise, but because it increases my appetite I looked for other options. I also suffer from joint pain and Deca sprung to mind.

One tends to forget that Deca is not as androgenic as most people think and by itself it cause a slow but consisted muscle and strength gain without the usual test side effects. Deca is only about 50% and androgenic as testosterone. Using it by itself to build size is usually a disappointing endeavor, but mostly because people don’t know what its properties are. It is no co-incidence that Deca became a household name with athletes two or three decades ago. Athletes don’t what excess bulk in the form of water or fat but rather look for maximum strength to size ratios. Deca’s ability to lubricate joints and alleviate joint pain is also legendary. Again, it is the overall effect that Deca has that has made it so popular.

It is a great muscle building base if you don’t want rapid bulk and the issues associated with rapid weight gain. Deca’s closest cousin is Equipoise, a substance that needs no introduction. One can sum Deca up as a perfect middle-ground between strength, size, and side effects. So what’s the downside? The only real downside is that it stays in the system for a very long time and you can detect the metabolites for up to 18 months in the urine. A major problem for athletes that get tested. Also, it is no surprise then that money was spent on detecting Deca specifically. Most people don’t realize that, while it is relatively easy to test for testosterone and amvetamines, testing for specific steroids are not that simple or cheap. The only other steroid that has been used as much as Deca in professional sport is probably Winstrol, also tested for specifically in sport.

Because of the testing, Deca fell out of favor with athletes and got placed back in the bodybuilders toolbox, but in many cases in the wrong department. On the right diet, seasoned bodybuilders use Deca very effectively to build quality muscle without the serious water retention of the testosterones. Two very important issues with todays use of Deca that is overlooked by users are, firstly, that Deca works very well with a quality diet. One would think that this would be true for most steroids but it is not the case. Some steroid will only perform when your diet is impeccable, otherwise they will yield very mediocre and disappointing results. Examples besides Deca are, Masteron, Primobolan, Dianabol and Growth Hormone. Often the lack of performance on these are masked because they are stacked with fail-safe testosterone.

The second factor is that Deca does not work when used with timoxafien (Nolvadex, Kessar, Neophedan etc). This is something that the old school bodybuilders took for granted, but many younger users are not are of this negative interaction.

So overall, Deca does warrant a new look and some more interesting cycles leaning more towards the anabolic than androgenic side. Dosage starts at 200mgs a week and because it so long acting it also takes longer to get into the system so expect 3-5 weeks of use before you start seeing effects. At dosage approaching 600mgs a week, things happen fast and a lot of good strength gains are made, but above 600mgs a week you are looking at diminishing returns so thats seems to be the maximum dosage worth taking.
